Diploma in Financial Management

Course Objectives

This programme is a Part-time post-graduate programme, designed for those who hold non-financial qualifications and wish to acquire an understanding of financial data and the way it is applied within an organisation. The qualification is awarded by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (A.C.C.A.) and is recognised world -wide. It involves 1 years study and the aim of the course is to enable students to understand:

  • How to use the language of finance;
  • How to interpret the financial statements produced by organisations for external users;
  • How to measure and manage business performance within an organisation;
  • The role of financial strategy in the investing, financing and resource allocation decisions within an organisation;
  • The main theories and frameworks associated with the management of both financial and non-financial risk.

Subjects

The course is divided into two modules and the subjects involved in each module are:

Module A

  • Interpretation of Financial Statements
  • Performance Management

Module B

  • Financial Strategy
  • Risk Management

Candidates are required to complete a written examination and a project for each module. To achieve a pass in each module candidates are required to obtain 50% in the examination and 50% in the project for that module.
