Diploma in Tourism Studies

Course objectives

This programme is designed to provide students with an understanding and awareness, on an international scale, of the travel and tourism industry. It is intended to prepare them for work with travel agents, tour operators, tourist agencies, hotel groups, tourist information centres and other tourism related operations.

Key skills & knowledge gained

The aim of the syllabus is to provide students with a body of knowledge which will:

  • Increase their employment opportunities;
  • Prepare them for supervisory and management careers in the travel and tourism sector;
  • Provide them with a qualification which will enable them to progress to higher level general management qualifications;

Qualifications gained

Students who successfully complete the first year of the programme will be awarded a ICM Certificate in Travel and Tourism and on completion of the second year, the ICM Diploma in Tourism and Business Studies.
